Let patrons search, find a work and browse the collection. The calls are in the Provider API, and search also exists as the Search API — a subset with its own specification that can, for example, be handed to a third party.

What you can build

  1. Search that knows the collection

Free-text search across works, with people in the same result, and suggestions while the patron types.

  2. Filters from the library system itself

Filters and sort orders come from the provider's own configuration, so patrons only see choices the library system supports, and facets can show how many results each gives.

  3. A work with everything around it

Editions, formats, availability and shelf mark for one work — the page where a patron decides to borrow or reserve.

  4. Browsing without a search term

Departments and categories the client defines, and subject pages, let patrons explore the collection without a search term.

  5. Not yet in PLAS

The groups Series, Library recommendations, Recommendations, Digital materials, and Campaign are in the feature list, but none of their features is supported yet.
