Show the patron what they need to act on, across loans, reservations and fees.

What you can build

A short list at the top of the patron's account with only what needs doing: a loan to return or renew, a reservation waiting on the pick-up shelf, a fee to pay. Each task leads to the loan, reservation or fee it is about, so the patron can act straight away.

Typical flow

  1. The client fetches the patron's loans with GetPatronLoans, reservations with GetPatronReservations and fees with GetPatronFees.
  2. It keeps the loans whose dueDate is near or passed, the reservations that are ready_for_pickup, and the patron's fees.
  3. The tasks are sorted, for example by the date they concern.
  4. The patron opens a task and acts on it: renews the loan (2.4.3), reads the pick-up details (2.5.2) or pays the fee (2.7.2).

What the API provides

  • PLAS has no operation for tasks. The list is put together by the client from the three calls.
  • renew.state on a loan tells whether it can be renewed: renewable, not_renewable, renewable_later or unknown.
  • A ready reservation has pickup.expirationDate when the provider knows the last day to pick it up.
