# Subject page

Let patrons follow a subject from a work to the other works in the collection on the same subject.

## 1.10.1 View subject page — Supported

Show the works on one subject, typically opened from a subject on a work.

### What you can build

A page for each subject, reached from the subjects on a work. Patrons explore the collection by topic without having to phrase a search.

### Typical flow

1. The patron chooses one of the `subjects` on a work (1.2.1).
2. The client searches with `SearchWorks` and `filter[plas.subjects]` set to the subject's `id`.
3. The page shows the works that match, with the same data as a search result (1.1.1).

### What the API provides

- A subject has a `label` and may have an `id`. Only a subject with an `id` can be used with the `plas.subjects` filter.
- The subject filter is available only when `GetSearchConfiguration` lists `plas.subjects` in `workSearch.filter.available`.
- When either is missing, show the subjects as text instead of links.
