# Agents

1 of 2 supported
Source: https://plasapi.com/features/search-and-discovery/agents/

Let patrons go from a work to the people and organisations behind it, and on to everything else they have made.

## 1.3.1 View agent — Supported

Show a person or an organisation behind works, together with the works they are connected to.

### What you can build

A page for an author, illustrator, narrator or organisation with their works at the library. Patrons get from a work they liked to what else the same person has written or contributed to.

### Typical flow

1. The patron opens an agent, for example a creator on a work or a result from `SearchAgents`.
2. The client fetches the agent with `GetAgents`.
3. The client lists the agent's works with `SearchWorks` and the filter `plas.agent`.
4. The works can be grouped by the role the agent had, from `roles` on each contributor.

### What the API provides

- An agent has `type` `person` or `collective`. A collective is a group or organisation acting as one.
- Every agent has `fullName` and can have `images`. A person can also have `givenName`, `surname`, `birthDate` and `deathDate`; `active` is a free-text period for persons whose dates are uncertain.
- Only an agent with an `id` can be fetched with `GetAgents` or used with `plas.agent`.
- Roles are codes from the MARC Code List for Relators (`roleCode`).

### Calls in the API

Enabled in the configuration: `GetSearchConfiguration`

Calls behind the view

## 1.3.2 Follow contributor — Not yet
