# Patron information

Let patrons carry their library card on their phone and identify themselves at the library with it.

## 2.3.1 Digital library card — Supported

Show the patron's library card on screen, so it can be scanned at self-service machines and access panels.

### What you can build

A library card on the phone: the client shows the patron's identifier as a barcode, so the patron does not need to carry the physical card.

### Typical flow

1. The client fetches the patron with `GetPatronInformation`.
2. The client picks the identifier to show from `identifiers`.
3. The card shows the identifier as a barcode, together with the patron's name.

### What the API provides

- Each identifier has a `value` and a `type`, for example `local` or `norway_national_library_card`. The field is optional.
- `fullName` is always provided. `givenName` and `surname` are only provided when the library system stores the name in that detail.
- `permissions` tells what the patron is `allowed` or `blocked` from, for example `self_service`.
