PLAS is not one API but four — and they are not siblings. Two are entry points: Provider is what the library system exposes, Vendor is what the product exposes back. The other two are profiles of Provider that can be implemented on their own.

## Provider API

The interface a library system exposes so that library products can read and write patrons, loans, reservations and holdings.

## Vendor API

The other direction. Where the Provider API is what the library system exposes, this is what the library product exposes back.
